Eleonora Berra

Synopsis
Three beings pave the floor of a cave with gemstones that they are collecting. When a part of the cave’s ceiling collapses because of an accident, the three see each other for the first time in daylight and realize that parts of their skin sparkles. However, one of them doesn’t sparkle. This difference will impact the group and lead to a conflict between the three.

I enjoy working with unusual materials and techniques to transport audiences to surreal worlds. I’ve co-directed the stop motion short film Partition (2011) with Delia Hess and Shami Lang. It was screened over thirty film festivals worldwide and won the ANIMA+LAB award for best animated film at the international short film festival SediciCorto. It also won the first prize at the Athens Animfest. My second stop motion film Effort (2012) was selected for numerous festivals, including Clermont Ferrand. This film was awarded the Prix Taurus Studio à l’Innovation at the Neuchâtel International Fantastic Film Festival. After completing a Master in Game Design in parallel with my work as a research assistant at the Zurich University of the Arts, I decided to make a new film: Mosaic.

Miriam Muraca (aka Moomie) was born in Bolzano in 1994, from a German mother and an Italian father, therefore she is fluent in German and Italian. Drawing is like breathing for her, she began at the age of three. She graduated at DAMS ((Drama, Art and Music Studies) at the University of Bologna with a thesis on Japanese Anime. During covid quarantine she focused on digital arts and co-founded an illustrated webzine of short stories. Gabrielle Mouret is a 27-year-old artist living near Paris, evolving in the world of drawing and animated cinema.
Biography
In 2018, she joins the Institut Supérieur Couleur Image Design, and graduates in animation film studies. She then discovers a new way of practicing her art which completely transforms her vision of drawing. She directed a short graduation film, Trait calme, exploring the act of waking up in the morning, in a poetic way.
Living in Montreuil since November 2021, she’s been working on various projects as a graphic designer and 2D animator. She is also interested in storyboarding, directing, drawing and writing for the new short film project.

Antoine Antabi

Synopsis
Midyan decides to run away from his war-torn home. He packs his bag with objects that remind him of his loved ones and embarks on a journey into the unknown. Soon he is starving and resorts to eating the objects he has packed. The effects are monstrous yet they give him the strength to carry on through the scorching desert. Eventually, he arrives half-dead on the other shore of the sea and eats the most precious of his objects: a family portrait. This gives him the strength to finish his journey.

Antoine Antabi was born in Damascus in 1983 and graduated from the University of Fine Arts in Damascus. He finished his studies in 2006 with a degree in stop-motion animation. His first stop-motion film SILENT THOUGHTS premiered at the Damascus International Film Festival and won the bronze award for short film competition. After leaving Syria, he has lived in Dubai and Lebanon. Since 2019 he lives in Leipzig, Germany, and works as a graphic designer and photographer, while developing stop-motion projects at the same time.

Sander Joon uses animation to create surreal worlds with a dash of humour. His films have previously travelled to festivals such as Annecy, DOK Leipzig, Ottawa, Go Short, Stuttgart, Fredrikstad, Kaboom, Supertoon, Animateka and GLAS. He has attended the Open Workshop artist residency in Viborg twice and is now teaching animation at the Estonian Academy of Arts, where he has received a master’s degree in animation. Besides films he has animated a music video for Tommy Cash, participated in a popular commercial for Rick and Morty and has been a VJ to numerous events.
